European Glass Context 2021

11.09-21.11 - European Glass Context - Bornholm’s Biennials for contemporary glass and ceramics. Every two years, the Biennial runs off the stack with a shifting focus between glass and ceramics. The Biennale has a rich and varied exhibition program with curated exhibitions, which takes place at the Bornholm Art Museum and at Grønbechs Gård. In addition, there is a sea of smaller exhibitions all over the island, where national and international practitioners gather at galleries and other pop-up locations to take part in this interesting manifestation of modern European glass or pottery at international level. The European Glass / Ceramic Context Biennial is also a competition with two prices respectively. € 10,000 and € 5,000, with a professional panel of international experts assessing and assessing the submitted works.

By 2021, European Glass Context will focus more on the UN's World Goals and Sustainability and, moreover, sharpen the Biennale's program points to further emphasize and develop the experimental scene. Bornholm Biennials for contemporary European glass and ceramics are jointly organized by Bornholm Art Museum, Royal Danish Academy - Crafts in Glass and Ceramics and Grønbechs Gård, where the Royal Danish Academy is the main partner.

European Glass and Ceramic Context forms part of a biennial symposium for European contemporary glass and ceramics on the island of Bornholm in Denmark.
The biennial was established in 2005 through visionary collaborations between partners representing the commercial, cultural and educational sectors on Bornholm. This event is motivated by a desire to promote the disciplines and trades of glass and ceramic art at European and global levels. Through this event we aim to show a changing biannual overview of contemporary European glass and ceramics.
The first European Ceramic Context vas presented in 2006.
